Dr. Franz Köhler Chemie GmbH is a research-focused and innovative pharmaceutical company in its third generation with more than 200 employees at its locations Bensheim and Alsbach in Germany. In 1959, Dr. Franz Josef Köhler founded the company. It is noted for its consistently growing product portfolio and its ongoing establishment on the international markets. Via international distributors, the products are promoted and shipped to more than 100 countries worldwide.
Dr. Franz Köhler Chemie GmbH is an independent, medium-sized, family-run company.
The versatile and ingenious scientific pioneering achievements of the founder in the fields of medicine and pharmacy have been further developed in a very innovative way for more than 30 years now through the committed work of the founder’s son, Dr. Gernot Köhler, and since 2012 also by his granddaughter Frauke Weiß.
Since January 2020, our management team has been expanded with Dr. med. Dipl.-Biol. Thomas Breidenbach. Thomas Breidenbach is a life scientist and physician with international expertise in transplantation medicine.
Solution-oriented – What we develop and ‘how’
Our product portfolio includes organ-protecting solutions, therapeutics, x-ray contrast agents, antidotes and medical devices. Based on our ample knowledge gained over many years of experience and coupled with a high sense of responsibility, we develop highly specialized niche products.
The organ-protecting solutions are predominantly applied in open heart surgery and in organ transplantations. In our own research and development center, we develop new ideas, test active agents. As a result, research and pharmaceutical production benefit equally from an effective and demand-oriented organization – to the advantage of the patients and physicians alike. The products are manufactured with state-of-the-art technology and according to the highest national and international quality standards under GMP conditions.
